I have to admit that while I have paid attention to politics both locally and nationally for a while, as a homeowner, I now have an even greater vested interest in local politics. So, when our city's wonderful mayor (note the sarcasm) called for a 17% property tax increase yesterday it really got my attention. The question I have for Mr. Mayor is, why do I have to alter my personal budget to compensate for your administration’s inability to keep our city's budget in check? In all fairness, I understand that times change, inflation is at times imminent, and small increases in taxes on occasion can be warranted, however the question still remains, 17%?!?!?!? In one year?!?!? Insane!
